RENO COUNCIL SELLS BUS STATION FOR HOUSING — The City of Reno owns the old bus station near the Bowling Stadium, and to help with the Tesla effect and the need for more housing, the city council is moving forward with an initiative to sell the property to someone that will build more living spaces downtown. The building has been vacant for some time, so rather than see the building go unoccupied, they council is getting ready to sell it so it can be transformed into homes, which are needed badly in the downtown area. With at least 6,000 new homes needed in our area to accommodate all the people relocating to Northern Nevada, a strong, healthy, vibrant downtown is part of the city’s growth plan. The city will put the property up for bid in the next couple of months.
