GOOD NEWS FOR NEVADA BUT… New statistics have been released on poverty levels in the Silver State, and the numbers show less people battling hunger issues, but we still have a long way to go. The new data just released says 15.2% of Nevadans lived at the poverty level in 2014, down from 15.8% in 2013. But the number of kids in poverty continues to grow, with over 22% of kids under 18 in that category. Even though the rate has fallen nationally, officials say it would take 25 years to cut the poverty rate in half from where it is now.
