CHANGES TO THE VOLUNTEER FIRE PROGRAM – The Washoe County Board of Fire Commissioners has approved measures to change to the Volunteer Fire Program. They would replace contracted volunteer services with a volunteer force governed by policy and best practices – administered by Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District. The changes would also simplify and streamline training, and compliance with statutes and industry standards, and develop a stronger and more larger force. Fire Chief Charlie Moore says the old system is antiquated, and needed to be brought up to date and changing times.
