Activists Protest Under The Arch

Environmental activists protested in downtown Reno against the sale of oil and gas leases on federal land in Nevada. The Climate Change Protesters rallied beneath the Reno arch with signs that read “Keep It In The Ground.” Leaders of “WildEarth Guardians,” say they’ve collected more than 44,000 signatures on a petition urging the Presidentto secure his “climate legacy” by keeping fossil fuels safely in the ground. The protest was in conjunction with a BLM auction of leases scheduled inside a Reno hotel-casino.  39 parcels in Elko and Eureka were on the block, but none received the minimum bid of $2 per acre, apparently because the decline in oil prices.
