Overnight lane closures on South Carson Street south of Fairview Drive have begun, as the Nevada Department of Transportation begins a project to resurface and improve the road. The closures will take place Sundays through Fridays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane in each direction will always remain open, and business access will remain available. Nearly two miles of roadway between Fairview Drive and Overland Street in Carson City will be microsurfaced for enhanced roadway smoothness and durability.  This section of Carson Street was last resurfaced in 2002.  The roadway currently connects an average of 44,000 vehicles daily between the I-580 Carson City Freeway and south Carson City.
