Smoke affecting the air quality in the Truckee Meadows is coming from a large fire in Monterey County, called the Soberanes Fire.  Almost 15,000 acres have burned and 20 homes have been destroyed in the fire that started July 22 north of Big Sur.  The fire is just 5% contained as of Monday the 25th, with no estimate of full containment. No cause has been determined.  There are mandatory evacuations in surrounding areas.
