Three Fires Burning North of Reno

Firefighters are battling three brush fires north of Reno caused by lightning. The largest is being called the Rock Fire. According to Sierra Front, it has scorched approximately 15-hundred acres. Around 300 homes are currently threatened. Also north of Reno is the Sage Fire which has burned approximately 300 acres. That fire is burning 10 miles east of Doyle. The Seven Lakes Fire burning on BLM land near the Seven Lakes area, has blackened at least 300 acres. The American Red Cross is assisting people who were evacuated from the Red Rock area last night. A temporary shelter is being set up at O’Brien Middle School on Stead Boulevard. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has set-up a Rock Fire information line at 337-5800. At this time there is no estimate for containment.
