It was a busy Tuesday for Firefighters. They have gotten 40% containment on the Payne Fire. It has burned an estimated 100 acres off Highway 88 in Alpine County. It is not threatening structures.

A fire near Topaz Lodge burned at least one structure and threatened several more, sparking voluntary evacuations. The Topaz Fire is now in the mop up stage, and burned an estimated 8 acres.

A fire in the Ray May area of Douglas County on BLM land was contained at 4-5 acres. No word has been released on the cause of any of these three brush fires.
