Long Valley Fire Still a Threat to The Sutcliffe Community

The Long Valley Fire has burned more than 83,733 acres. It is about 40% contained. Nevada Department of Transportation says Pyramid Highway is closed in both directions just north of SR 446 because the fire is headed toward the Sutcliffe area. An evacuation advisory has been issued for that community. People in or around the fire area are advised to constantly monitor the situation, and be prepared to evacuate when advised. In the event of evacuation, the Nixon Gym will be the evacuation center at 301 Highway 447. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for today between noon and 8PM. Strong winds and very low humidity are expected and will likely cause an increase in fire behavior, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
