Investigators looking into Sunday’s Las Vegas massacre, which is now officially being called “1-October,” have found no known nexus to terror or connections to ISIS, Undersheriff Kevin C. McMahill told reporters Friday. They have no credible information as to motive, despite more than 1,000 leads and tips. McMahill said authorities are confident there was not another shooter in Stephen Paddock’s room, but are still trying to determine whether anyone else knew of Paddock’s plans. He is also giving recognition to the unarmed security guard who confronted the shooter and was wounded, but took steps to let everyone know where he was and what was going on, shortly before Stephen Paddock killed himself. McMahill says Jesus Campos is a true hero.
