If you’re a senior living on Lake Tahoe’s south shore, or anywhere else in El Dorado County, you could have dead or dying trees removed from your property under a program with CalFire and the Community Development Services, Housing Community and Economic Development Program. To qualify, you must be a home owner at or below 60 percent of the county’s area median income, and be at least 60 years old or older. The trees must be dead or dying, posing a threat to buildings on the property, and be larger than 10 inches in diameter, taller than 20 feet, and be within 300 feet of a structure or residence. They also have to be accessible. Get an application, and your questions answered, at 530-621-5159.
