A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to 8-20 years in prison for a DUI crash that killed two people in 2016. A Ford F-350 being driven by Justin Freund went onto the shoulder of Interstate 80, and rear-ended a Pontiac Grand Am that was disabled on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 80. Two occupants in the Pontiac, 27-year-old Jose F. Villasante and 23-year-old Sylvana Rey, were killed.
Freund and his passenger, 27-year-old Matthew Sredy, ran from the scene. They were quickly caught; Freund was discovered to be under the influence of alcohol, and eventually pleaded guilty to two counts of Driving Under the Influence Causing Death.
