Multiple crews including the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District are battling a fire of 20 acres in Evans Canyon, southwest of McCarran in southwest Reno.

The fire was reported about 8:14 a.m. and is in US Forest Service jurisdiction.

TMFPD said aerial support is dropping retardant on the fire. Although no evacuations are in place, they ask homeowners to stay aware and avoid the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
