The Reno Police Department traffic division conducted a pedestrian safety operation Thursday in Reno-areas that had the highest concentration of pedestrian-related incidents.
Police said officers issued 116 traffic citations, 28 warnings and made two arrests. One was for felony drug possession and another person was arrested on an undisclosed misdemeanor.
Police said they focused on the areas where drivers and pedestrians violated laws and made it unsafe for pedestrians.
Pedestrians must use sidewalks, crosswalks and pedestrian bridges and obey all traffic signs and signals, police said. If there is no sidewalk, pedestrians must walk facing traffic.
Drivers must yield to pedestrians and avoid passing vehicles stopped for pedestrians.
The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant for the operation.
