[KOH] A recall petition for two trustees of the Incline Village General Improvement District is being circulated. The recall effort began June 16th, aimed to recall Trustees Sara Schmitz and Matthew Dent. Backers of the recall are critical of Schmitz’s vote against a $25 million dollar donation offered by the Duffield Foundation. As a result, the organizers argue, the foundation pulled its offer since the donation was contingent on a unanimous vote.
The petition’s organizers also accuse Schmitz and Dent of “creating a destructive work environment” by micromanaging and overstepping their bounds in their capacity as Trustees, citing the removal of IVGID’s General Manager by three of the five members of the board which has also led to other senior management leaving. Dent is also accused of ethics violations.
IVGID manages critical infrastructure in Incline Village like water usage and waste management. Many positions are understaffed.
