It caused a lot of controversy, but it’s over. BLM says their wild horse gather near Wells netted just over 1,970 of the animals, with 1,936 removed from public lands. Six horses were released, four died from injuries related to the roundup, and twenty-five were put down, due to what the BLM says were pre-existing, or chronic issues. The horses were taken to the Indian Lakes, Wild Horse and Burro off-range Corrals in Fallon to be prepared for adoption programs.
