The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday after a standoff in Dayton. The sheriff’s office said the incident began just after 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Sweetwater Circle. Neighbors heard a shot fired and saw 34-year-old Cody Ward flee his townhouse and go into the garage of a neighboring townhouse. Deputies arrived and Ward refused to surrender, leading to a standoff. Hours later, the special weapons and tactics team entered the garage and found Ward unresponsive with a gun in his hand. Deputies began lifesaving measures, including giving him Narcan, and he was taken to the hospital. Deputies found several guns and drug paraphernalia in his home. He is facing charges of firing a gun in a home, three counts of being an ex-felon in possession of a gun, obstructing a peace officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
