Eclipse Coming to Nevada Saturday

[KOH] Nevada will be one of the best states for viewing this weekend’s so-called “ring of fire” eclipse. Technically it’s called an “annular” eclipse. The “ring of fire” name comes from the fact that the moon blocks all but the sun’s fiery outer edge. The best viewing on Saturday will be from the Central Oregon coast through Nevada, Utah, the four corners area, New Mexico and Texas. Here in Nevada, the path enters at the extreme NW corner of the state, swings down through Winnemucca & Battle Mountain, then down through Ely.
Elsewhere, people will see a partial eclipse, where the sun looks like a big cookie with a bite taken out of it. On the west coast, the action will start shortly after 8 a.m. with maximum coverage between 9:15 and 9:25, and full sun around 10:45.
