Don Laughlin Dead at 92

[KOH] Donald J. Laughlin, a casino operator who was the namesake of the town of Laughlin, has died. Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino announced that he died Sunday in his penthouse at the resort. Family had been with Laughlin for several days before his death.

According to the resort’s website, Laughlin earned $500 a week in high school from his slot machine business. He opened the Riverside Resort in 1966. Laughlin paid $5 million dollars in 1986 for a bridge connecting Nevada and Arizona, and in 1991, he donated land and the funds for the Laughlin/Bullhead City International Airport.

Don Laughlin was 92.
