Water Tests Find No Harmful Toxins in Lake Tahoe

(Zephyr Cove, NV) — Testing of water samples taken at two Lake Tahoe beaches shows no signs of toxins connected with harmful algal blooms. The water samples were collected last week from El Dorado Beach in South Lake Tahoe and Nevada Beach in Zephyr Cove. The tests were prompted by a woman who claimed her dog died after being exposed to the water at the beaches during Fourth of July weekend. A shallow pond near Nevada Beach has a low level of a toxin called saxitoxin. But, the pond is not connected to the lake.
