Nevadans Reject Ranked-Choice Voting

CARSON CITY, Nev. — The ballot question to establish open primaries where all candidates compete, regardless of party affiliation, with the top five advancing to a general election using ranked-choice voting was rejected by Nevadans, garnering just 43 percent of the vote. Proponents had argued the system would encourage moderate candidates and reduce partisanship, while critics said it would overcomplicate the voting process.
