(Reno, NV) — NV Energy is upgrading its power outage watch for Northern Nevada. Based on the weather conditions in the forecast today, officials have moved into a Public Safety Outage Management warning. A proactive outage could start at six o’clock this morning and last well into tomorrow. It was initially expected to last until noon today. Affected areas include Genoa North, South Carson City-Clear Creek, South Carson City-Jacks Valley, Virginia City Highlands, Verdi, Galena, Washoe Valley and Southwest Reno. Those areas are facing a higher risk of wildfires.
