(Reno, NV) — Gunshot detection technology is coming to Downtown Reno next year. The Flock Safety gunshot detection and surveillance systems are expected to cost 450-thousand-dollars. It will be paid for with Reno’s share of American Rescue Plan Act funding. The technology is able to differentiate between gunshots and fireworks. Once a gunshot is detected, dispatchers can send officers to the area in about a minute. The system also narrows down where a gunshot was fired to within a 90-foot radius.
