(Incline Village, NV) — Lake Tahoe could be home to the nation’s first flying electric ferry by next year. A company called FlyTahoe is working on getting the ferry approved. It would take people across the lake in about a half hour, which FlyTahoe CEO Ryan Meinzer says would cut down on traffic on roads. The ferry has a unique design, in that it mostly sits several feet above the water, making it appear as if it’s “flying.” That means it does not create a wake, which can cause shore erosion. The electric, zero-emission ferry can travel up to 30-miles-per-hour. One ferry holds up to 30 people.
