(San Francisco, CA) — There’s a new strain of bird flu that’s infecting dairy cows. California Infectious disease specialist Dr. Peter Chin Hong says there’ve been two cases in Nevada and that it merits closer monitoring. Over 950 bird flu cases in dairy cows have been confirmed since last year’s bird flu outbreak were all from the same virus strain. Nearly 70 people in the U.S., mostly farm workers, have contracted bird flu as the virus spreads among poultry and dairy herds.
