Washoe Teachers & Police Officers Get Raises

[KOH] Washoe County teachers will get a 20% raise over the next two years. The board of trustees approved a two-year contract with the Washoe Education Association. The union represents more than 3,900 teachers. The first year has a 14%, plus another 4% from Senate Bill 231, bringing the total to 18% in year one. In year two, teachers will receive an additional 2% increase.
The agreement is in effect immediately and runs through June 30, 2025. The contract also provides a one-time $5,000 signing and/or retention bonus for certain hard-to-fill positions.
School police officers are getting a 17.2% increase plus another 2% next year. Their pay raises are retroactive to July 1st of this year.
