[KOH] Elk aren’t just in Elko anymore according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. They’ve been seen in Washoe County according to reports and photos coming in to NDOW since April. A group of bull elk have been spotted near Chilcoot in California and most recently wandering near Peavine Mountain. It’s not the first time we’ve had animals make their way into Nevada who don’t normally live here, according to the agency.
That’s Ashley Zeme with the department. NDOW is asking you to call their office at 775-688-1500 if you see an elk. Once your sighting is confirmed the area will be mapped and followed to determine if the herd is an establishing population.
