[KOH] **UPDATED** An employee of Alpine Meadows died early Thursday morning in a snowmobile crash during overnight snowmaking operations. He’s been identified as 34-year-old Brian Gimbert of Homewood. The California Highway Patrol said he was riding a snowmobile at slow speed on undeveloped property at Alpine Meadows, south of the main lodge. The snowmobile struck a rock about two feet in diameter, which was partially buried under snow. Gimbert was thrown from the vehicle, and the snowmobile landed on top of him. CHP and OSHA are investigating further.
