Sparks Police responded to the 1500 block of I street for a report of 3 gunshots. As Officers arrived around 7:30 last night, they could hear a man yelling inside of a home. Officers surrounded the property and spoke with several neighbors, who confirmed they heard gunshots as well. After Officers were on scene for nearly an hour, 41-year-old Sixto Guzman Jr came to the door with a shotgun in his hands. He fired a round into the ground, then barricaded himself inside. A woman who was in the home was contacted over the phone by police and was able to exit the home safely. Then, just before 10 p.m., Guzman attempted to flee through a back window, that’s when Sparks officers were able to arrest him. He is an ex felon and faces a variety of charges.
