Convicted Arsonist Sentenced to 45 Years

A man who set two fires in the Joy Lake Road area has been sentenced to 45 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole after 14 years. In October, the Matthew Kimmens was convicted of five counts of arson, following the fires in August of 2022. The fires left one home destroyed and two others damaged. Prosecutors say the arsons were motivated by a domestic dispute between the man and his girlfriend. He has also been ordered to pay more than three-point-two-million-dollars in restitution to the victims.
