Juvenile Murder Suspect Will be Charged as an Adult

A juvenile facing murder charges after allegedly shooting his father in Lander County will be charged as an adult. Abel Berch was recently arraigned and assigned a public defender. He is expected back in court later this month. He called 911, saying he had shot his father at a home at 25 Ranch north of Battle Mountain. Lander County deputies responded and detained him. Detectives say the teen shot his father multiple times with a rifle while he was sitting at a desk in the office area of the home. The victim was identified as 64-year-old William Berch.
