SJSU Volleyball Player Shows Support For Univ of Nevada Athletes Amid Transgender Controversy

(Reno, NV) — A San Jose State University women’s volleyball player is showing support for University of Nevada, Reno athletes who voted to forfeit their upcoming match against her team. San Jose State’s Brooke Slusser is one of 19 athletes who have sued the NCAA over its gender identity policies. In the lawsuit, Slusser says she felt concerned for the safety of herself and others after realizing one of her teammates was transgender. On Monday, UNR women’s volleyball players voted to forfeit their match against SJSU, due to it having a transgender player. Utah State University, the University of Wyoming, Boise State University and Southern Utah University have also forfeited their matches against SJSU in recent weeks for the same reason.
