TEAL PUMPKINS MAKE HALLOWEEN SAFER — Halloween can be a tricky holiday for parents of children with food allergies. The Teal Pumpkin Project is a nationwide campaign that lets parents know which houses have safe treats. Caroline Moasessi is with the Food Allergy Parent Education Group and says Halloween is always a little scary for her, but the Teal Pumpkins Project makes Halloween a little easier. Here’s how it works: People who hand out non-food related treats put a teal-colored pumpkin in front of their home to let parents know it’s safe. Teal is the official color of food allergies. If your child has a food allergy, it’s also a good idea to have your kids incorporate some type of gloves into their costume to prevent cross-contact.
