The Hawken Fire burning in the Caughlin Ranch area of west Reno is now estimated at about 278 acres with 75% containment. The fire started just after one o’clock Wednesday afternoon and quickly grew from an estimated 50 acres before rapidly leaping to 200 acres. 50 homes were threatened at one point. Evacuees were directed to Reno High School, but that voluntary order was lifted at around 8 o’clock Wednesday night.
