Evacuations are in effect again for the Preacher Fire burning near Gardnerville in Douglas County. The Preacher Fire has already burned about 3,130 acres large after starting early yesterday morning near the Preachers Mine. Douglas County says the Preacher Fire changed direction and is moving northerly towards Pinenut Road. Officials say there are evacuations for the Sierra Spirit Ranch area, on the east end of Pine Nut Road, for the following areas: Blue Sage Road, Badger Lane, Robinson Road, Lena Lane, Fred’s Street, Sandoval Road, Blue Bird Road, Bar Jay Road, Tail Dragger Road. Authorities say BLM, the Forest Service, Nevada Division of Forestry crews are assisting with the fire. An evacuation center has been set up at the Douglas County Senior Center, and they are accepting pets.
