New laws have made residential solar affordable again, and the industry is booming in northern Nevada.

Reno-based Sunworks has seen a big boost in business and the company would like to hire more than two dozen people by the end of the year.

And if you’re thinking about installing solar, Sunworks’ Casey Coffman tells KOLO-8 there are other benefits besides positive net metering rates of which to take advantage.

It’s a process that, from start to finish, usually takes about two months.  Coffman says on day one after you’ve installed solar, you’ve added 97% of the cost of the solar system to the value of your home.
