State of Nevada Halting New Drilling Permits in The Reno Area

The state of Nevada is halting new drilling permits in the Reno area. There are fears that the only source of water for thousands of homes in Cold Springs may run dry. Nevada state engineer Tim Wilson says that the state is the driest and fastest growing in the nation and that we’re entering into a new era of water management. The halt is just the second of it’s kind issued by the state. Wilson imposed a moratorium on new water developments northeast of Las Vegas last May.
