The man who referred to himself as the “Mayor of the greatest city in Nevada”, Bob Crowell has died. Crowell passed over the weekend at the VA Hospital in Reno. He was elected mayor of Carson City in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and 2016. He also served 11 years on the Carson City School Board of Trustees. Crowell was a native Nevadan, born in Tonopah, an attorney, a Vietnam vet and retired Navy Captain. He was 74 years old. A brief ceremony with social distancing was held at Carson City Hall on Saturday afternoon. Flags at City facilities will be flown at half mast for one week in his honor.
