An RV fire left two south Reno homes uninhabitable. Fire crews were called to Heather Field Lane and Rio Wrangler Parkway at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday on a report of a vehicle fire. The fire spread from an RV to the homes. No one was in the homes at the time of the fire.…MORE

U.S. District Court Judge Larry Hicks Hit and Killed by Vehicle in Midtown Reno

U.S. District Court Judge Larry Hicks was hit and killed by a vehicle in midtown Reno on Wednesday afternoon. Hicks was hit about 2:15 p.m. as he crossed the intersection at South Virginia Street and California Avenue near the federal courthouse. Body Recovered From The Truckee River

The Sparks Fire Department recovered a body from the Truckee River yesterday. They were called to Rock Park after a person who was kayaking noticed the body in the water around 4:30 p.m. No other details about the person have been released to the public.MORE

The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says a fire in Spanish Springs Monday was started by a resident burning weeds around their home. The resident said they thought the fire was out only to return later to find a fire burning their fence.MORE

School Board Approves Contract For New Superintendent

The contract for Washoe County School District’s new superintendent Joe Ernst was approved unanimously by the board of trustees at their meeting Tuesday. Ernst was selected for the role on May 14. The four-year contract includes a base salary of $280,000. Ernst will officially start his new job July 8.MORE

Two Arrested After Shooting in Carson City

Two are now under arrest after a double shooting Saturday night in Carson City. This happened on the city’s eastside around 10:20 off Woodside near Monte Rosa Drive.
